Webinar Focus: What does it mean to be civically engaged today?

About this webinar: On Wednesday, August 26 from 10:00 a.m.–11:00 a.m. PDT (1:00 p.m.–2:00 p.m. EDT), join host Mary Hendra for a conversation with Jon Lego and Emily Weisberg, and Andrew Slack on creating upstanders in and out of the classroom.

Facing History students become highly motivated to make a difference now, in their own communities. How do we facilitate their own choice to engage? How can students discover their own passion in the world? What tools are available for action? Joined by special guest, Andrew Slack, founder of the Harry Potter Alliance, we look at what students are doing today as upstanders.

Our guest speakers will gladly address your questions via the Google Hangout “Q&A” feature or on Twitter using the hashtags #ConnectedLearning and #Upstander.

In partnership with CLTV, Educator Innovator will be simulcasting this month’s webinars as part of an August 2015 series titled “Creating Student Upstanders in Today’s World,” which is organized by Facing History and Ourselves.
