Indulge your inner novelist at Camp NaNoWriMo

camp_nano_logoBased on November’s National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), Camp NaNoWriMo provides online support, tracking tools, and hard deadlines— all with the goal of helping participants draft of a novel in a month… specifically, the month of July. If you sign on, you will join 20,000 other novelists around the world as we  write some perhaps-awful, but definitely lengthy, prose together.

Why: The reasons are endless! To actively participate in one of our era’s most enchanting art forms! To write without having to obsess over quality. To be able to make obscure references to passages from our novels at parties.

Why be part of Educator Innovator?: Those reasons are endless too. Many educators in schools and out support their youth in NaNoWriMo during the school year when the traditional NaNoWriMo kicks up in November. Other educators are eager to experience what it would be like to write online with the support and feedback of other writers online. The experience might help frame ideas about how to use online spaces for writing with youth. Others might want to indulge the inner YA novelist.

When do I join?: You can sign up anytime to add your name to the roster. Writing begins at 12:00 AM on July 1. To be added to the official list of winners, you must reach your word-count goal by 11:59 PM on the last day of the month. Once your novel has been verified by our web-based team of robotic word counters, the partying begins.
