Letters to the Next President 2.0 engaged and connected over 18,000 young people, aged 13-18, as they researched, wrote, and made media to voice their opinions on issues that mattered to them in the 2016 presidential election. Letters to the Next President 2.0 was hosted by the National Writing Project and KQED, and included 20+ Educator Innovator partners.
The National Writing Project (NWP), the founder of the Educator Innovator Initiative, is a network of educators and dedicated practitioners working together to improve practice with an eye toward young people as producers. The NWP envisions a future where every person is an accomplished writer and maker, not just a passive consumer.
KQED Education engages with community and educational organizations to expand learning and address the needs of educators in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math), arts, and news/current affairs by creating cutting-edge learning media, providing training in digital learning tools and distributing public media content to classrooms.
