What is possible when children’s book authors, illustrators, and elementary educators collaborate together?
In April 2020, with schools closed for shelter-in-place, NWP Writers Council members, teachers, and children’s book authors and illustrators came together to rethink the stand-alone storytime and the traditional “author visit.” During this initial conversation, ideas surfaced around the ways that teachers and authors/illustrators might collaborate given the historic moment of a global pandemic.
Duration: 37:13, accompanying slideshow includes details about the teachers, authors, and illustrators.
To further develop these ideas, Writing Project teachers and interested authors and illustrators have launched a series of webinars this summer called Beyond Storytime: A Colab Series. Each month we will dig into one of the ideas surfaced and spend some time co-designing and developing together.
These co-design opportunities will be livestreamed with an online chat and posted as archived discussions with related hashtags to gather input and ideas from others. Access recordings and related resources here.
